Food on a Shoestring

Someone just asked me to play a recipe game where i send a recipe to a stranger. So I thought I’d share the kinds of culinary delight I make on the road. There probably already is, but a backpacker’s cookbook would be a good idea. Here’swhat this poor stranger got:

Hello there,
I’m traveling as a backpacker in new Zealand. Ever few dollars I save is another day here. So when I cook, my main goal is to use what I have and not get scurvy! Here is my cheap and simple go to.

FANCY RAMEN:
1 packet ramen
Vegetables from farmers market
Oil
Peanut butter(trust me)
Meat (optional)
Ginger (optional)
Bean sprouts (optional, for garnish)
Chopped peanuts (optional, for garnish)

1. Start some water boiling in a saucepan

2. Add oil to the pan and sauté vegetables

2. Boil ramen noodles for one or two minutes instead of the three recommended on package

3. Add drained noodles to pan once veg is cooked, add a bit of water and flavor packet or half of flavor packet, or skip it and add spices or sauce.

4. Add a scoop of peanut butter and sauté on stove top for another couple minutes.

Enjoy with a glass of classy wine from a box.

Voila! A backpacker’s delight!
